Classroom Guidance
  • As per the ASCA (American School Counselor Association), we are very involved in the students classroom learning environment.

  • Classroom counseling/guidance services are available for all grades.

Particular topics are developmentally appropriate for each grade and when requested, services are provided. Videos, books, and follow-up activities are often used.

Grade 1

Free the Horses (Active Parenting Publishers)

  • This is a self-esteem classroom video and discussion program presented by the school counselor. At minimum, it is an eleven-week "adventure", but often it spans the entire school year. This time commitment allows for continuous contact with the students, time for follow-up activities, and for the students to have direct contact with the school counselor.

Grade 2

Life Skills Program

This is an eight week program that often expands to cover additional topics. It is a video/activity-based discussion classroom program that also includes children's books to supplement the units. The topics covered are developmentally age-appropriate for second grade students.

  • They are: Liking Yourself, Appreciating Differences, Looking at Friendship, Understanding Feelings, How to Understand a Problem, Resolving Conflicts, and Accepting Responsibility. Additionally, kindness and bullying may be discussed.
Grades 3-5

Topics covered vary from classroom to classroom based on the needs of the students.
