Preschool

What is Stratham Preschool?

This program is an innovative preschool model where an environment is created to address both the developmental and social needs of your child. A variety of educational specialists assist in program development and work in the classroom.

What is the programs model?

SMS Preschool uses the creative curriculum as a model to help plan and implement a developmentally appropriate preschool program. The handwriting without ears curriculum and Social Thinking Curriculum are also incorporated in the classroom to further prepare the students to enter Kindergarten. SMS Preschool follows a schedule similar to typical preschool programs. Instruction takes place in large groups, small groups, or individually with a focus on language development, motor development, pre-academic skills, play and social needs. The children will also have oppurtunities to work with classmates to play games, complete projects, and do other activities that foster learning in the areas of science, social studies, are and music. Early math and literacy skills will be taught during small group lessons, allowing children to work on skills that are aligned to their level of readiness. Interaction among the children is facilitated as needed.

Who is eligible?

The morning classes will be for children who are 3 years of age. Children who turn 3 prior to 10/01/2019 are eligible to apply. The afternoon classes will be for children who are 4 years of age prior to 10/01/2019. Classes will be a mix of children who have special needs and children with typical development.
