Art Collection - Did you know that Microsoft owns a considerable
number of prized art works? It started back in 1987 as a project to decorate
the walls of their new corporate buildings. This program has just kept
expanding and has resulted in a considerable collection. This Art Collection
website now opens this collection up to the public arranged into a wide
variety of exhibits. Along with the art, there are historical analyses and
general information to put each exhibit into perspective.
The
Cave of Lascaux - The 1940 discovery of the cave paintings in the Cave
of Lascaux in the French Pyrenees forever changed our concept of prehistoric
man. Now you can take a virtual visit to the cave and see these paintings for
yourself. Visit the Discover section to explore the cave in detail. Then
browse through the Learn section to find out more about the paintings and the
environmental problems that led to the cave's closing to the public in 1983.
