Furthermore, adaptive technologies are used to give all students equal opportunities for learning.
Community Support
For the past seven years The Stratham Memorial School has been a Blue Ribbon school based upon NHPIE (New Hampshire Partners in Education). Parents are an important part of the school community. Parent volunteers are often seen helping out in classrooms throughout the school. Also, before & after school activities are also conducted by parents and teachers as part of a variety of enrichment programs. Some of the activities conducted by staff and community members have involved computer technology, music, art, picturing writing, acting classes and the designing and building of inventions from recycled materials. These are just some of the activities students have been exposed to this past year. Many, many more activities have been taking place here and continue to take place everyday thanks to the dedication of the community and the staff of the school.
Academics/Instructional Practices and Collaborative
"We are applying authentic programming and rationale in our educational practices."
Thomas Fosher, Principal. Many teachers here in Stratham are using Picturing Writing & Image Making.
Picturing Writing & Image Making is an art and literature based program where students use collage or crayon resist/water colors to create pictures/scenes to stimulate quality writing.
In essence this program allows students to create vivid images from their imagination. Once the image is created, the students are then asked to write about the art they have created. Below is an example of this program created by a 2nd grade student.

Stars sparkle like fireworks
Falling down to the river.
The river ripples under the sun.
The plateau holds the cactus, silently.
The falcon soars to the sun.
In addition the school enhances student work and achievement through Everyday Math. Everyday Math pays close attention to every area outlined by the National Math Standards. At its core is an instructional framework that stresses problem solving through practical everyday applications.
Another important part to the educational development of Strathams students is an integrated technology program. Through the use of a computer lab and a computer within each classroom, computer technology is used to enhance the learning experiences of all students. Through the use of programs such as Microsoft Power Point, classroom curriculum is used to create many different and varying projects. Students receive computer knowledge and understanding that is hands on and practical while adhering to New Hampshire State Standards.
A collaborative has been established between The Stratham Memorial School and the University of New Hampshire (UNH). The Stratham Memorial School works very close with UNH in the training and development of future teachers. Furthermore, some teachers do workshops and presentations through UNH across the country.
