STEP 1: Research what makes a terrific board game.

• RESEARCH: Read the following two articles about things to think about when designing your own board game.

  1) Design Considerations article from “The Games Journal”

  2) “What Makes a Game Good?” article

• TASKS: [Do on a piece of white lined paper and hand in to Mrs. L]

  1) Make a list of 5 ideas from each article that you feel would be useful in creating your board game. These lists will be turned in with your finished project. Your game will be checked against your lists to see how well the ideas you selected were represented in your board game.

  2) Think about your group's 3 favorite board games. List each game and two or three aspects of the game that make it great. Then answer the question – how can you incorporate these parts of your favorite games into your own game?
