WEEKLY PRACTICE CHOICES

DIRECTIONS: For this week's spelling practice, choose any 3 of these activities to complete for your 10 words (5 new, 5 review). Make sure you bring in your work, stapled to your word list, on Thursday to show how you practiced your words!

Use Puzzlemaker.com to create your own word search or crossword puzzle. Don't forget to solve your puzzle!
ABC order- Write your words in alphabetical order.
Rainbow Words - Write your words in three colors
Backwards Words- Write your words forwards, then backwards.
Silly sentences -Use all your words in one silly mega-sentences
Words without Vowels -Write your words replacing all vowels with a line.
Words without Consonants - Same as above but replace consonants with lines.
Story words -Write a short story using all your words.
Scrambled words-Write your words, then write them again with the letters mixed up.
Surround words -Write your words on graph paper and outline in colors.
Pyramid Words - Write your words adding or subtracting one letter at a time. The result will be a pyramid shape of words.
Words-in-words - Write your word and then write at least 2 words made from each.
Pasta Words - Write your words by arranging alphabet pasta or Alphabits. Glue on paper.
Reversed words -Write your words in ABC order -backwards!
Sound Words - Use a tape recorder and record your words and their spelling. Then listen to your tape, checking to see that you spelled all the words correctly. Bring in the tape!
Other Handed - If you are right-handed, write with your left, or vice versa.
Choo-Choo Words - Write the entire list end-to-end as one long word, using different colors of crayon or ink for different words.
Telephone Words - Translate your words into numbers from a telephone keypad.
30 Second Words -Write a TV commercial using all the words from your list.
Fun Pens: you write the words in "fun pens." You can use gooey, glittery, sparkly, or puffy ink pens.
30 Second Words (2): fold a paper in quarters. Write the spelling word in one corner of one of the squares. Mom or dad gives the students 30 seconds to write the word as many times as they can (but still writing neatly and legibly!) in that square.
Rainbow Words: You write each spelling word with your pencil. Then go back and trace each word with a crayon. Do this two more times with two different crayons for a rainbow effect.
Cartoons: Use spelling words as you write what the cartoon characters might say.
Puzzle-Maker: Write the spelling words on heavy paper. Cut it apart into a puzzle. Put it back together.
Ha! Ha! - Write a joke, riddle or tongue twister using your spelling words.
